The Allahabad High Court conducted a two-hour-long hearing today regarding the petition challenging the permission for worship in the basement of Vyas ji within the Gyanvapi complex in Varanasi, Uttar Pradesh. Senior advocate Harishankar Jain presented the temple's position, followed by SFA Naqvi representing the mosque's side.

The case, presided over by Justice Rohit Ranjan Aggarwal, will resume on February 12 at 10 am. According to information, Naqvi argued that the District Judge's order on January 31, 2024, granting final relief at the initial stage, was hastily passed on the day of the judge's retirement and should not be allowed.

On the other hand, advocate Vishnu Shankar Jain, representing the Hindu side, emphasized that the order on January 17, 2024, was solely for appointing the receiver, with no decision on the prayer for puja. The court fixed the next hearing for January 31, where the order for puja was passed.
